Helianthus Annuus Oil:INCI name of Sunflower Seed Oil, clear, slightly amber-colored liquid, used as a skin conditioner and emollient, high in Vitamin E
heterochromia:describes differences in people's eye colour. Comes from Greek: 'heteros' = different and 'chroma' = colour. Cause: differences in concentrations and distributions of melanin in the eye, giving rise to colour variations. Types of heterochromia are: 1) central heterochromia = different colours within the same eye; 2) segmental heterochromia or iridis heterochromia = a different colour patch is present in one iris; 3) complete heterochromia = two different eye colours. Main reason is heredity, can also be the result of eye injury (punch, bleeding in eye) or medical condition (such as glaucoma). It is more frequent in females than males.
hive:a swelling in the skin which produces an elevated, spongy, soft area which can appear suddenly and usually disappears within 24 hours. Can be the result of common allergic reactions to insect bites, drugs or anything which has touched the skin. Also known as a wheal.
hydrate:a hydrate is a substance containing water in the form H2O or its constituent elements. Aloe Vera is a skin care ingredient that functions as a super hydrate, it is the foundation of the Nancy K Brown skin care line. See Aloe Vera benefits explained by Nancy K Brown.
hydration:the process or action to replenish the body's reserves of H2O - either through ingestion (by drinking) or by the application of hydrators to the skin - see Hydrators - Step 4 in the Nancy K Brown skin care regimen. Aloe Vera products are excellent sources of hydration due to their high H2O content.
hydrator:a drink or product that helps the body replenish its reserves of H2O. See Hydrators - Step 4 in the Nancy K Brown skin care regimen. Aloe Vera containing skin care products are excellent hydrators, due to their high H2O content.
hyperlinear palms:increased number of skin creases on the palms.
hyperpigmented eyelids:eyelids that have become darker in colour due to inflammation or hay fever.
hypo-allergenic:means that a product or ingredient will not cause an allergic reaction or cause sensitization of the skin.
hyaluronic acid:hyaluronic acid is a super humectant capable of retaining up to 1000x its weight in moisture (water). Produced naturally in the body, it is a hydrating and moisturizing agent. Also know as a cyclic acid. Found naturally throughout the human body, with the highest concentrations found in the joints, eyes and skin.
